Vince Rig (Work in progress)

I’ve always wanted to make a tribute rig to one of my favorite actors, Vincent Price. I’ve had a blast working on this rig for the past few months. Revisiting old movies and looking at expressions, hair styles and clothing of the 50’s on Pinterest, set me off on my design process.

Texturing is a work in progress so the colors were randomly splatted on the model and the skin pigmentation was polypainted in Zbrush. There is going to be a full paint job in Substance. Other details, such as folds and schemes on the pants and suit are also going to be added on the high-res model, once the shoulder and hip twist rig is fully tested and finalized.

Retopology was done in Maya with the quad draw tool, dropping from 10mil. polys down to around 5k.

UVs were created and laid out in UDIMs inside Maya. Also, normal maps for each mesh were created in Marmoset, much faster than Substance Painter when it comes to cage tweaking.
